PAP vs Peroxide: A Gentler Way to Whiten
Two ways to whiten, and why it matters
Most whitening toothpastes brighten teeth in one of two ways: peroxide, or PAP. Both lift stains, but they get there differently.
The peroxide approach
Peroxide (hydrogen or carbamide) has been the traditional whitening agent for decades. It works, but for some people it can feel harsh with frequent use.
The PAP approach
PAP (phthalimidoperoxycaproic acid) is a newer whitening active that lifts surface stains without peroxide. It’s the whitening ingredient in our Whitening Toothpaste, chosen so you can whiten as part of an everyday ritual.
Why peroxide-free
A peroxide-free formula is gentler for daily use. We pair PAP with 5% nano-hydroxyapatite, which remineralises and protects enamel. So brightening and enamel care happen in the same step.
